SACE is Hiring a Volunteer Manager

Job Title: Volunteer Manager, Community Engagement

Reports To: Director of Community Engagement and Executive Director

Summary of Position

The Volunteer Manager is full-time position responsible for the operations of the Volunteer Program and the Support and Information Line at the Sexual Assault Centre of Edmonton (SACE). The Sexual Assault Centre of Edmonton (SACE) is a not-for-profit, charitable organization that supports children, adolescents, and adults who have experienced sexual abuse or assault, and educates the public about sexual violence. We offer a friendly and warm work environment and are looking for someone in this position to work weekly Monday – Thursday. Flexibility to work weekday evenings and weekends is a requirement.

The position involves:

  • Recruiting, screening, training and supervising volunteers for all volunteer positions
  • Coordinating and facilitating training for volunteers on the Sexual Assault Support and Information Line and Crisis Chat, which includes:
    • Facilitating training sessions;
    • Coordinating with other SACE staff and other organizations to facilitate sessions;
    • Supervising and providing feedback on mock calls
    • Developing and updating training materials
  • Recognizing volunteers’ contributions to SACE through informal and formal avenues;
  • Maintaining records of all volunteers and volunteer activity
  • Promoting volunteer relations
    • Develop and distribute a monthly volunteer newsletter;
    • Facilitate monthly volunteer meetings;
    • Support volunteer social events;
  • Managing the volunteer program expense budget within existing financial guidelines
  • Facilitating the operation of the Sexual Assault Support and Information Line and Crisis Chat
    • Oversee volunteer scheduling
    • Provide on-going supervision and support for volunteers
    • Act as liaison between SACE and the designated answering service
    • Provide crisis intervention when required
  • Recruiting and training volunteers for various fundraising and special events, including staffing public education information booths in the community;
  • Maintaining Volunteer Program portion of the SACE website
  • Collaborating on the writing of various funding and program reports;
  • Participating in various fundraising initiatives for SACE including bingos, casinos and an annual fundraising gala.

Qualifications:

  • Undergraduate degree is preferred, although experience will be considered
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills
  • Experience in public speaking, event planning, website management, project management and Microsoft Office

The ideal candidate:

  • Is able to work and develop relationships with a wide range of people, both within and outside of the organization
  • Is comfortable with public speaking and communicates effectively in both written and verbal form
  • Is creative and innovative in developing new and unique ways to improve the volunteer program and create new opportunities
  • Is comfortable working collaboratively with other staff and organizations
  • Is adaptable and open to change within the position
  • Is highly organized and detail-oriented
  • Is familiar with feminist approaches to support and violence prevention
