In honor of Sexual Assault Awareness Month (April)  we wanted to use this post an as opportunity to share some of the fantastic writing that other people have been doing to confront a number of extremely important topics, both directly and indirectly related to the issue of sexual violence. Feministing.com does something similar in their “Daily Feminist Cheat Sheet”, and we wanted to try it on our blog to direct some attention to a handful of articles we have found in the past week that we really like. Hope you enjoy!

April is Sexual Assault Awareness Month. Check out this link to learn how you can take a stand against sexual violence by challenging rape jokes.

It’s International Anti-Street Harassment Week! Looking to be an ally in challenging street harassment? Check out the following graphic and article:

April 9th is Equal Pay Day! To find out why this is such an important date check out this article, or have a look at these informative graphics:

A wonderful feature written by the blogger who was instrumental in bringing what happened in Steubenville to the public’s attention.

Know or work with youth? An excellent resource on creating inclusive spaces for LGTBQ youth here, and another on teaching kids consent at any age here.

A very interesting study on how heavily children are gendered though colors.

A great article on challenging traditional date scripts here.

An excellent, thoughtful piece on how something as seemingly unrelated as a school dress code reinforces rape culture. (Spoiler alert- the school is more concerned with banning  girls from wearing tight pants than creating an environment where all children are taught to respect the bodies and boundaries of others)

And to wrap up, an image that pokes fun at (and highllights the ridiculousness of) the usual “ sexual assault prevention tips” women often receive.
